"Next up in our mix series is Wave Arising aka 69db aka Sebastian Vaughan, a pioneering live electronic artist and longtime member of legendary collectives spanning all the way back to the 90s, such as Spiral Tribe, SP23, R-Zac, Stormcore and Network 23 Recordings. Alongside dancer Kynsie, he fuses weightless techno with spiritual and ritualistic elements for the Wave Arising project, creating a new frequency of rave culture through sound and movement. With roots in dub, hip house, acid house, and Detroit techno - and as a co-creator of the hard-Tek/tribe genre—his drummer's foundation keeps his music deeply rhythm-driven, as heard in last year’s release ‘The Rooted Sky’.
In this mix, Sebastian delivers a 90-minute live set that showcases his signature improvisational approach. He experiments with shifting rhythms and layered textures, steadily evolving the energy with a sense of patience and intent. It is as hypnotic as it is groovy - shifting from minimal, polyrhythmic pulses to fuller, weightless grooves."
